"Southern Baptist Sissies"
Presented by Mind's Eye Theatre

June 22 - July 8, 2006

The "Sissies" Are Coming to the Just Off Broadway Theatre

The play, directed by Minds Eye president Craig Aikman, takes the audience into the lives of four young men trying to come to terms with their sexuality and identity under the shadow of a small Texas Baptist church. "In this day and age we felt it was important to present a story that speaks to everyone, gay or straight, about love and acceptance in a world that is anything but accepting," said Aikman, "Its a coming of age story that is poignant and hysterical and I believe it is Shores' strongest story to date.

Southern Baptist Sissies opens June 22 and runs June 23-24, 29-30, July 1 and July 5-8.

Curtain is 8 p.m. each evening with special midnight performances each Friday.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students and seniors and may be reserved by calling 913-897-2348.

Minds Eye Theatre was organized more than five years ago in an effort to bring something unique to the Kansas City area. The focus is to stretch the boundaries of local theatre by presenting works never before or rarely seen in Kansas City by bringing together artists from different cultures and backgrounds to create and explore the craft of theater.
