| The Just Off Broadway Theater Association and the Kansas City Park and Recreations Dept. invite you – all Kansas City libraries and high schools in the Kansas City Missouri and Kansas school district to participate in Lolla-Poe-Looza, an Edgar Allen Poe Halloween Festival at the Just Off Broadway Theatre. There will be a children’s carnival with apple dunking, cake walks, and other games from 5PM to 7PM on October 30th and 31st. Then, the 4th annual Lolla-Poe-Looza marathon reading will take place from 7PM October 30th to 7PM on the 31st as part of the 24-hour reading of Poe’s work, which includes an art festival of Poe inspired paintings and drawings created by the high school students of the Greater Kansas City Area. The students are also invited to read their favorite Poe short story throughout the evening. The patrons who attend the celebration will select one of the works of art to receive a prize that will be awarded at 7PM on October 31st, Halloween Eve. Each school is invited to present three Poe inspired pictures, size 11”x 17” (any media), for the festival. The winning work of art will be use as the Lolla-Poe-Looza poster for the next year’s celebration.
