| Byrd Productions proudly presents Fools’ Fortunes & creativity workshop Byrd Productions proudly presents Fools’ Fortunes, a showcase of local fools, mimes and movement artists featuring Richard Renner, Jay & Leslie Cady, Beth Byrd and Heidi Stubblefield. All are seasoned performers that many of you may already know. However, this is their opportunity to bring to the stage some of their most theatrical ideas that they’ve had…lately. Jay and Leslie Cady of Laughing Matters will perform humorous mime and movement vignettes based on wacky characters with different views of life. Richard Renner will perform in a frantic, spastic style, performing old favorites and new stuff that no one wants to see. Heidi Stubblefield has created two movement pieces for the showcase. One is an object theatre piece – exploring storytelling through movement and object “Haiku’s”. The second is a clown piece that involves Squash and a tea party and misunderstandings. Beth Byrd will prove that there are signs for every time and that mimes can be sexy too. Performances for Fooles’ Fortunes are April 13, 14 & 15 at the Just Off Broadway Theater. Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door. As usual there will be a workshop on Monday April 9, 7:00 – 9:00 PM focusing on creating new material for Fooles. The cost for the workshop is $20 The workshop “Tapping Your Creativity to Write New Material” will be led by Jay & Leslie Cady. This workshop explores tools for developing performance pieces. Creative inspiration can be found in all facets of life as well as your own imagination. We will use mime for a practical examination of the writing process. Workshop participants will develop short scenes based on classic mime illusions. We will critique each other’s scenes and brainstorm ways to improve them.
