| Byrd Productions presents CYCLOPEDIA by Margolis-Brown Movement Theater October 6 - 12 Margolis Brown ADAPTORS Company presents its newest production CYCLOPEDIA CYCLOPEDIA explores a phantasmagorical world of endless words, countless symbols, piles of paper, broken pencils and mountainous stacks of books. In this strange and dusty world all the thoughts of mankind have accumulated in to an odd and ever changing room shared by two men -- and a shadow. They find themselves on an unpredictable search for knowledge, for answers to yet unknown problems and of course the greatest questions of all - who are we, why are we here and where are we going. CYCLOPEDIA continues to push the boundaries of theatre, merging the company’s highly dynamic physicality with state of the art multimedia to create the award- winning productions for which Margolis and Brown have earned their international reputations. For more info on the Margolis- Brown Movement Theater go to www.margolisbrown.org Workshops will be offered. Times and ticket prices have yet to be determined. |
| Heidi Stubblefield in cooperation with Byrd Productions presents: THE COPPELIA PROJECT By Heidi Stubblefield This non-verbal clown ballet will be premiered at the Kansas City Fringe Festival this summer. It is based (loosely) on the ballet Coppelia which is (even more loosely) based on a story by ETA Hoffman called THE SANDMAN. Heidi defines the piece as a clown ballet, as it uses exaggerated movement and spatially instigated emotion rather than verbal, anecdotal instigated emotion. It tip toes along the line of grotesque and buffoon to ballet and surrealism. Sound artsy enough for ya? Well don't worry, there will be red noses, commedia masks and slap sticks a plenty. Heidi has been dreaming this show for almost a year and is excited to produce it this summer. The Coppelia Project is the story of a doll-maker who creates beautiful dolls and creates one so beautiful he can't bear to let her go so he deliberately keeps her unfinished. Despite this, the doll is fascinatingly beautiful and performs unlike any other he has ever made. He sees in her a beauty and craftsmanship that is unmatched and she brings immense pain and joy to his life. The Coppelia Project will be performed at various locations in this year’s KC Fringe Festival July 21 - 27, 2008 For more details go to www.kcfringe.org |
