When is a knight only a pawn? When the Queen says so. Sir Richard is in the Tower of London, a
convicted though unwitting conspirator in an assassination plot against Queen Elizabeth. Now he
awaits punishment, not knowing whether the Queen will grant mercy or the State demand death.
It is the late 16th century, but state sponsored terrorism, religious conflict, and political
manipulation are all as current as yesterday's CNN broadcast.
